The Seated View, Shiny and New

Isn’t it purdy??

I am pleased as punch to introduce you to my new website! The Seated View now has its own custom URL, as well as a bespoke design. Which I just adore. I love the simplicity and the peace in the design — it’s a perfect background for my posts and photos.

Take it for a spin and poke around — let me know how you like it. We are still putting the finishing touches on a couple of things, but I couldn’t wait to get back to talking to you again here, in my own space.

Before I move on, I need to think Chris Bell and Ryan Hammond of Rocketcloud for designing this gorgeous website. They took an ephemeral idea and made it real, in the process coping with a cantankerous transfer tool from Blogger to WordPress, as well as dealing with changes — of site and mind — and in general just being completely amazing. If you need a website, you can do no better.

It’s been four months since I last posted anything on my website. In the last 15 years, I think the longest I’ve gone without posting has been maybe a week, so it’s been more than a bit surreal.

Had you talked to me about this at the end of last year, I would’ve held forth at great length about how I was going to spend the time I was blogging coming up with new and interesting topics and loads of fun things for us to do. And that was totally the plan.

And then winter happened. It was a rough one, with a persistent Fibro flare, intense fatigue and OMG, the brain fog. So, no. I don’t have 27 posts in reserve, just waiting to be thrown out there. I do have a few, but not 27.

Despite feeling like crap for months, I wasn’t lying completely fallow (does that metaphor work?). There was the usual writing for HealthCentral and a couple of other cool places. And there was a new video, as well. I’ll share links to some of this over the next few weeks.

One more thing before I leave you to kick the tires of this new site. Many of you have been subscribing to my newsletter for years. The EU has messed with that. The EU has trotted out a new thing called the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), designed to make sure that residents of that region don’t receive information that they haven’t signed up for. Which is not a bad thing, because: spam. However, because I have EU subscribers to my newsletter, I had to ask my whole list to confirm their subscription. And because that email went out just before the Memorial Day long weekend, I have a feeling a lot of you didn’t see it.

Because the magic date of May 25, 2018 has now passed, I can’t use the current list I have. Therefore, if you want to continue receiving my newsletter, please sign up again. Over the past year, the Facebook debacle has taught me that it’s the only way for you to reliably stay in touch with what I’m up to.

Enough of that. You have a website to peruse and I have some posts to write for you.

So, what have you been up to for the last four months?
